A Cancelled Hand Must Be Removed Consistently

Cancelling a hand can affect both a total and a count. Removing only one can leave a misleading average.

Cancelling a hand can affect both a total and a count. Removing only one can leave a misleading average.

Three practice hands score four, six and eight. Their total is eighteen and their mean is six. If the eight-point hand is cancelled and excluded from this statistic, the remaining total is ten across two hands, giving a mean of five.

Keeping three as the denominator would count a hand whose points were removed. Keeping eighteen as the total would retain cancelled points. Apply the cancellation policy to each affected measure, while retaining the cancelled event in the history if the record requires it.
