A Printed Joker Does Not Supply Two Missing Cards
For this exercise, each joker may replace one card in a group. It has one position in the completed arrangement, even when several positions need help.

For this exercise, each joker may replace one card in a group. It has one position in the completed arrangement, even when several positions need help.
Consider 4♣, a joker and 7♣. A consecutive club sequence would need both 5♣ and 6♣ between the natural cards. One joker cannot occupy both positions. Treating the joker as a bridge over any gap would change the substitution rule.
Add a natural 5♣ and let the joker represent 6♣: the four positions are now covered. The repair works because the missing inventory changed. It is not evidence that the original three-card arrangement was already complete.
