An Optional Meld Must Stay Optional

A rule allowing a player to reveal a valid group does not necessarily require immediate revelation. Permission and obligation produce different choices.

Suppose a practice rule permits laying down a sequence during the player's turn. The player has a valid sequence but keeps it concealed and performs another permitted action. That choice is not a breach unless a separate clause requires the group to be laid down.

Now add the condition that the first valid sequence must be revealed before another action. The same choice can fail under the changed rule. Preserve the condition in any explanation; replacing may with must changes the player's legal options rather than simply shortening the sentence.
