Classic Canasta: Seven Consecutive Cards Are Not a Canasta
A canasta is a meld of at least seven cards based on one rank. A same-suit run is not its defining pattern.

Seven natural nines form a natural canasta. The seven cards 4♣ through 10♣ do not, even though they form an uninterrupted sequence. Their ranks differ, so they do not satisfy the same-rank meld rule.
Identify the game before applying a familiar grouping habit. Sequences matter in several rummy games, but Classic Canasta uses rank groups for this purpose.
