Diwa777: The Deal Began with One Card Too Many

The total number of dealt cards can be right while individual hands are wrong. Check every player’s count before play starts.

Four friends agree to receive five cards each. After dealing, one player counts six, two count five and one counts four.

The total is still twenty. That confirms the overall count but does not confirm that every player received the agreed number.

Pause before play begins

Nobody has played a card yet. They pause before decisions begin and compare the distribution with the intended five-per-person arrangement.

The player with six offers to choose a card for the player with four. But choosing after seeing the cards could favour one hand.

Instead, the group follows its agreed correction procedure: collect the dealt cards, shuffle and redeal. They avoid inventing a selective repair midway.

For the new deal, place cards in a steady round-robin order. Keep completed rounds visible with a simple tally beside the pack.

Confirm each hand size

After five dealing rounds, everyone counts without exposing identities. Agreement on hand size is enough to confirm this part of the setup.

The first count also explains why checking only the remaining pack would have missed the problem. A distribution can be wrong while the total stays correct.

Assigning one observer to the dealing order can help during learning. The observer checks the process without advising players about their private cards.

The restarted round begins with a boring but valuable agreement: five cards each. Small setup checks prevent much harder arguments after play has started.
