Dream 77: Tracking Two Physical Cards with the Same Face

Two packs are used in a card exercise.

Editorial note: This is a conditional card-rule teaching example, not a verified description of the named platform.

Two packs are used in a card exercise. Each contains a 7♥. To explain a Dream 77 card history clearly, label the copies 7♥A and 7♥B. The labels identify physical cards; they do not give one copy a higher rank.

Follow the identifier across zones

Suppose 7♥A moves from a hand to the discard pile while 7♥B remains in the hand. A record that simply says “7♥ moved” cannot distinguish the two. Keeping the identifier stable makes the movement traceable without pretending that both copies changed location.

One card, one current location

After an accepted move, the same physical copy should not be counted in both the old and new zones of a settled inventory. Historical records may show both locations at different times. That is a timeline, not simultaneous ownership.

Use rank and suit when discussing face value; use the copy identifier when discussing a particular movement. The distinction is especially helpful when identical-looking cards appear in a replay. It resolves an identification problem without changing the game’s ranking rules.
