EZ777: A Worked Card Example Must Reveal Its Starting State

“Draw one, discard one, finish with three” explains the count but not the resulting cards.

Editorial note: This is a conditional card-rule teaching example, not a verified description of the named platform.

“Draw one, discard one, finish with three” explains the count but not the resulting cards. To make an EZ777 teaching example reproducible, start with a complete small hand: A♣, 5♦ and 9♥. Draw K♠, then discard 5♦. The final hand is A♣, 9♥ and K♠.

Counts and identities answer different questions

The count follows 3 → 4 → 3. Card identities explain which three remain. A reader given only the counts cannot infer that the king replaced the five.

Include every relevant starting component

For this example, the starting hand and the specified draw are sufficient. If the question asks which card would be drawn next, the draw-pile order becomes relevant too. Do not add hidden information to the conclusion that the example never supplied.

The same method scales to a larger hand: provide the necessary inventory, identify each accepted change and reconstruct the end state. This is a deliberately small exercise, not a claim that EZ777 uses three-card draw-and-discard play. Its purpose is to show what makes a rules example checkable.
