Hearts: Breaking the Suit Does Not Cancel Following Suit
Once hearts are broken, they may be led. Players who can follow another led suit must still do so.

Hearts have already appeared. A club is led, and Kavya holds both clubs and hearts. She must play a club; the earlier heart discard has not given her unrestricted permission to shed a heart now.
The broken-suit condition controls the lead. The follow-suit condition controls responses. Apply the rule for the action being taken.
