Hearts: Reaching One Hundred Does Not Make You the Winner
The usual hundred-point threshold ends a Hearts game; the lowest total identifies its winner.

The usual hundred-point threshold ends a Hearts game; the lowest total identifies its winner.
After a complete hand, the totals are one hundred and two, seventy-four, eighty-one and sixty-nine. The fourth player wins with sixty-nine. The first player triggered the ending condition but has the highest penalty total.
Separate the stopping test from the ranking test. Confusing them reverses the purpose of a game in which collecting points is normally undesirable.
