IND SLOTS: The Mango Was Still There, Just Not in the Same Corner
A six-card memory challenge turns a familiar grid sideways. Track a card through a rotation using an anchor instead of guessing from its old position.

Set up the six-card grid
Arrange six picture cards in two rows of three. The top row reads mango, drum, kite; the bottom row reads cup, leaf, star. Look carefully, turn the cards face down, and keep them fixed to the board with reusable tabs.
For the IND SLOTS memory challenge, Pranav rotates the entire board half a turn while his friend watches. Nothing slides and no card changes its place on the board. Yet the arrangement looks different from the friend's seat.

“Mango, top left,” the friend says, reaching for the old corner. Stop before turning it over. The phrase describes where the mango was relative to the viewer before the rotation, not where it is now.
Follow the half-turn
After a half-turn, the top row from the same seat is star, leaf, cup. The bottom row is kite, drum, mango. Mango is now bottom right. Every card has moved to the opposite position in the grid.
Pranav puts a small blue sticker beside the mango's original corner and repeats the movement with the cards visible. The sticker travels with the board. It supplies an anchor that “my left” cannot provide when the board turns.
There are two reliable ways to describe the mango: its present position from a specified seat, or its position beside the marked corner of the board. Mixing those descriptions midway through the exercise creates the wrong answer.

Try asking for the drum next. It began in the middle of the upper row; after the half-turn it is in the middle of the lower row. The middle column stays the middle column, but the row changes.
Move the viewer as well
Now make the challenge harder by changing the viewer's seat as well. Explain both movements before answering. Moving the board and moving the observer are separate operations, and their effects must be tracked together.
A photograph can help review the exercise only if its orientation is clear. Mark which edge faced the player. An unlabelled image rotated on a phone may recreate the very confusion the photograph was meant to resolve.
The IND SLOTS grid rewards a different kind of memory: remember an object together with the reference that locates it. Before exposing the final card, say which corner or seat your description uses. Then check whether the mango followed your reasoning.
