Indian Rummy: A Longer Run Can Release a Useful Card
A natural 3♣–4♣–5♣–6♣ contains a legal three-card run at either end. If 6♣ also helps a set of sixes, moving it can preserve 3♣–4♣–5♣ while improving the rest of the hand.

Do not shorten a run automatically. First verify that the remaining cards still qualify and that the released card genuinely completes something else. Rearrangement is useful when it improves the whole thirteen-card layout, not merely because two alternative pictures can be drawn.
