INR Rummy: Auto-Sort Cannot Supply a Missing Grouping Condition

Putting cards in numerical order is an arrangement operation.

Editorial note: This is a conditional card-rule teaching example, not a verified description of the named platform.

Putting cards in numerical order is an arrangement operation. Deciding whether they form a valid group requires additional conditions.

A neat row can still fail

Take 7♣, 8♦ and 9♥. Sorting by rank produces a tidy consecutive row. Under a natural-rummy-sequence definition requiring one suit, it is still not a valid sequence. Sorting changed the order of display, not the suits.

Likewise, a collection arranged by suit may still contain gaps in rank. A sorting rule guarantees only the ordering it was designed to produce. It should not be credited with solving every requirement of a complete hand.

Separate features by their stated purpose

An actual application might provide sorting, suggested grouping and declaration validation as different features. One should not be inferred from another. A function called auto-sort is not evidence that the entire hand has passed the declaration checks.

For an INR Rummy explanation, show the cards before and after sorting, then list the independent group conditions. The physical inventory should remain the same. This makes the limit of the operation visible: it can make the hand easier to read, but a missing condition stays missing until the proposed cards or their valid assignment actually change.
