Jaiho Win: The Match Ended Before the Last Listed Round
Two wins can settle a best-of-three contest. See why an empty third box does not always mean a round is missing.

A score sheet has three round boxes. Jai and Priya fill the first two with Jai's name, then wonder whether they must play the third.
Their agreed format is best of three: the first player to win two rounds takes the match. The boxes show the maximum possible rounds.

Two wins settle this match
Jai has already reached two wins. Priya cannot overtake that total in one remaining round, so the match result is settled.
They cross out the unused box and write “not needed”. Leaving it empty might later look like a forgotten result.
Compare a different sheet: Jai wins round one and Priya round two. Each has one win, so round three is necessary to decide the match.
The number of boxes is unchanged. What changes is whether the stopping condition has been reached by the recorded outcomes.

If they play another round for enjoyment, label it separately. It can have its own winner without reopening the completed match.
Change the format carefully
Their friend suggests “best of five” next time. They work out that three round wins are needed, rather than copying the old two-win target.
This exercise assumes every round produces a winner. If draws are possible, agree how they affect the format before starting.
Priya's final note is practical: write both the maximum rounds and the stopping condition. A schedule tells you what might be played; the results tell you what remains necessary.
