OK Rummy: A Joker as the First Open Card
The first open card belongs to the setup of a hand.

Editorial note: This is a conditional card-rule teaching example, not a verified description of the named platform.
The first open card belongs to the setup of a hand. A card discarded later belongs to a player's completed action. Those situations need not have identical rules.
What a complete setup instruction must say
If the first open card is a joker, the instructions should establish whether it stays, is replaced or remains visible but unavailable. A replacement procedure must also say where the removed card goes. “Open another card” is incomplete if the first card's destination is not defined.
For a teaching example, suppose the rule requires setting the joker aside and revealing the next card. Mark the set-aside joker in a separate area. It cannot simultaneously remain in the face-down draw pile. Otherwise the written inventory would describe the same physical card twice.
Do not borrow a later-turn rule
A restriction on picking up a joker discarded by another player does not automatically settle the setup question. Conversely, a rule for replacing the first open joker does not necessarily authorise replacing every joker that appears later.
An OK Rummy explanation should identify the stage before discussing the exception. Note that the hand has not yet begun its ordinary draw-and-discard cycle. Once the first open-card procedure is complete, record the resulting piles and the designated wild rank, if any. That produces a reproducible starting state instead of an improvised correction whose missing card reappears later.
