Passing a Card Does Not Mean Passing the Turn
In a practice round, each player passes one card to the player on the left before play begins. That exchange changes the hands; it does not decide who takes the opening turn.

In a practice round, each player passes one card to the player on the left before play begins. That exchange changes the hands; it does not decide who takes the opening turn.
Suppose A passes a queen to B, B passes a five to C, and C passes a nine to A. Each player gives one card and receives one. The hand sizes stay the same, but ownership changes. If the opening-player rule names B, B still starts.
Complete the exchange before applying the turn order. Otherwise, a player may act with an incoming card that has not yet become part of the hand. The recipient of the last visible animation is not automatically the next player.
