Pick11: Selecting a Team Is Not Assigning Every Role

Choosing three people does not automatically cover three jobs. Build a small quiz team by checking the reader, recorder and presenter roles.

List who can cover each role

Only Asha and Dev volunteer to present; everyone can read or record. Keep that condition beside the roster.

Choose Asha, Bilal and Charu, then assign the roles explicitly. Asha presents, Bilal reads and Charu records.

The assignment is one valid solution, not the only possible team. Dev could support another valid combination.

Recheck when someone leaves

If Asha leaves early, revisit the role coverage rather than replacing her with the first available name.

Ask participants about preferences before assigning unfamiliar responsibilities. Availability and willingness are both relevant to this plan.

A simple checklist works better than arguing over the strongest-looking list. Check number, coverage and confirmed participation.

A practical follow-up is to ask the chosen trio to name their jobs before the quiz starts. If nobody can say who will present, having three names on the page has not solved the organiser’s problem. Role coverage is demonstrated by an assignment the participants can actually accept.
