PX777: The Sticker Marked a Question, Not a Joker
A highlighted card can draw attention without gaining a new role. Check a marked rummy example against the actual substitution rule.

Leena places a bright sticker on 8♣ in a teaching photograph. She wants the group to notice that card. Her cousin reads the highlight as a special power and uses the eight to fill a missing six. The photograph has created an instruction that Leena never intended to give.

Read the stated role
The exercise says all cards are natural cards and no wild-card substitution is in use. Its proposed group is 5♥ 8♣ 7♥. The sticker does not make 8♣ into 6♥. The ranks and suits still fail to form the intended sequence, however prominent the middle card looks.
Leena changes her annotation to an arrow labelled “Check this card”. That tells the reader where to look while leaving the answer open. If a future example genuinely uses a substitute, its caption must identify the substitute and the rule that permits it. A decorative mark cannot carry that whole explanation.

Test the image without its colour
They make a plain copy of the example and discuss it again. The group should reach the same rules-based conclusion. If removing the highlight changes what someone thinks is allowed, the annotation needs another look. This checks the communication, not the learner’s eyesight or attention.
For a shared guide, the helpful final caption states the question, the card roles and the proposed grouping. The highlighted version can remain beside it. Readers then know whether a visual mark means “look here”, “this is wrong”, or “this has a special role”, instead of being asked to infer all three from a sticker.
