Rokda7: Three Hint Cards, One Honest Record

Use a visible hint-card record during a learning session. Count requests consistently while keeping the learner’s explanation as the main task.

The group gives each learner three paper hint cards for a rummy practice session. Asking for help means moving one card into a used pile. There is no prize attached; the cards simply let learners see how much support they used while working through the examples.

Define one request

A hint can be short or detailed, so length alone does not determine the count. The tutor and learner agree what help is requested before answering. A follow-up needed to clarify that same hint is not silently treated as a new request. The counting convention belongs on the exercise sheet.

After two requests, one card remains available and two are used. A learner who borrows a card from the used pile has changed the record, not recovered an unused opportunity. Keep both piles visible so the count can be checked without relying on memory.

Read the record kindly

Using all three hints does not prove that a learner has failed. It shows that this attempt needed support under this exercise’s system. The useful review asks which hint unlocked the explanation and what can be tried independently next time.

At the next session, the group starts a fresh record rather than carrying yesterday’s used cards forward by accident. Previous notes remain beside the old example. This gives each attempt a clear beginning while preserving enough history to notice whether the learner is becoming more independent.
