XX7: The Cropped Heading Changed the Rule

Keep an example’s conditions attached when sharing card instructions. Removing a heading can turn a limited exercise into a misleading general claim.

A reader shares a cropped line from a practice guide. The original heading said the example used only natural cards, with no wild-card substitution. The cropped message contains the group judgment but not that condition. Another friend applies it to a different example with a labelled substitute and gets confused.

Restore the relevant context

Send the condition and the example together. The recipient needs to know which cards were being used naturally and what task was being judged. A rule sentence may be accurate in its stated setting while becoming misleading when detached from that setting.

Do not solve the confusion by adding a guessed exception. Return to the complete example first. Identify what changed between the two exercises, then consult the rule appropriate to the second one. This keeps a sharing mistake from becoming a new unofficial rule.

Make short messages self-contained

A concise note can still say “in this natural-card example” and include the proposed group. There is no need to forward an entire long article every time. The important thing is preserving the conditions that the conclusion depends on.

Before sending a screenshot, read only the part the recipient will see. If the visible words appear to make a broader claim than the original, widen the crop or add the missing qualifier. Good sharing edits shorten the presentation without silently expanding the rule.
