YN777: The Card Nobody Was Allowed to Touch Yet
A simultaneous reveal needs a fixed choice before either card is seen. Trace how changing an answer afterwards alters the task.
Two players must select one of three picture cards and reveal together. Nikhil reaches for a new choice after seeing Tara's card.
Their rule asks for a choice before either reveal. Nikhil's later card answers a different task: choosing with Tara's answer already known.

Fix the choices before revealing
They use a paper cover over each selected card. Once both say “ready”, the choices are fixed and the covers lift together.
The cover does not make either answer more clever. It preserves the information conditions under which the decisions were supposed to happen.
A spectator proposes counting down aloud. This helps coordinate the reveal, provided the choices are already fixed before the countdown ends.
Nikhil writes his first choice on a slip as an alternative. The group can compare the revealed card with that record if a question arises.

Keep revisions separate
Discussing a better answer afterwards is still useful. Label it as a revision made with more information rather than quietly replacing the original decision.
For a contrasting activity, deliberately let the second player observe the first. The changed rule may be interesting, but it should be visible to both.
Tara and Nikhil replay once under each format. They compare what they knew when choosing, not simply which card looked best at the end.
Their notebook now records three moments: choose, commit, reveal. Keeping those moments separate makes a small simultaneous-choice game much easier to run.
