Yono Slots: Fifty Per Cent of Which Rounds?
A ten-round Dragon Tiger teaching record shows how excluding ties changes the denominator and why two percentages can describe different subsets.

Two captions accompany the same practice record: “Dragon won forty per cent” and “Dragon won fifty per cent.” The Yono Slots notebook asks whether either writer changed a result, or whether they counted different sets of rounds.
Ten rounds, three outcomes
The complete ten-round record is D, T, tie, D, T, D, tie, T, D, T. There are four Dragon wins, four Tiger wins and two ties. These are observations from this teaching example, not estimates supplied by a product.

Among all ten recorded rounds, Dragon wins four out of ten, or forty per cent. The two ties remain in the denominator because the phrase “all rounds” includes them.
Among only the eight non-tied rounds, Dragon wins four out of eight, or fifty per cent. This calculation is also arithmetically correct, but it answers a different question with a different denominator.
Attach the scope to the percentage
Neither caption should omit its scope. A reader comparing forty and fifty without the words “all” and “non-tied” may mistake a change of definition for a disagreement about the underlying cards.
The notebook keeps ties as their own category. It does not reassign them as Dragon wins, Tiger wins or missing records. A tied rank is an observed outcome under the exercise's rules, not an inconvenience to erase.

The friends add the categories before calculating: four plus four plus two equals ten. This check helps detect an omitted round, though it would not detect every possible misclassification.
They do not call either observed percentage the probability of the next round. A small historical proportion is not automatically a prediction. The dealing setup and the limits of the record would need separate consideration.
Show both fractions
For a clear caption, write both quantities: “Dragon won 4/10 of all rounds and 4/8 of non-tied rounds.” Showing the fractions makes the difference visible even before readers convert them into percentages.
The Yono Slots exercise leaves one question to ask whenever a percentage appears: out of what? A precise-looking number can still mislead if its denominator is hidden. Keep the counted group attached to the claim.
