Yono VIP: Three Pairs Were One Pair Too Many for the Final Five
A seven-card Hold’em selection contains three pairs; choosing the best five requires two pairs and one kicker, not an invented three-pair category.

The seven-card inventory
The board is K♣, K♦, 8♠, 8♥, 2♣. Her private cards are Q♣ and Q♦. The available pairs are kings, queens and eights. No straight, flush, full house or four of a kind is available from these cards.

Her strongest five are K♣, K♦, Q♣, Q♦ and one eight. This is two pair, kings and queens, with an eight kicker. Choosing either board eight yields the same rank strength.
Keeping both eights would use six cards alongside both kings and queens. Removing a queen to force the count to five would lower the second pair from queens to eights. A legal five-card selection still needs to be the strongest one.
Preserve the strongest two pairs
Sana first writes K, K, Q, Q, 8 as a rank summary, then restores the actual suit identities. The summary helps compare components, while the full card list verifies that the selected cards really exist.
The lowest pair has not become useless in every sense. One eight supplies the kicker. The mistake is trying to preserve the pair as a pair after the five-card limit makes that impossible.

Her partner asks whether the diamond queen is “better” than the club queen. Both are needed for the chosen queen pair. Suit preference is not the issue; category structure and the five-card limit are.
Try a different private pair
For a separate practice, replace the private queens with two aces. The best two pairs would then be aces and kings, with an eight kicker. This changes a component's rank while preserving the selection problem.
Do not add that new pair to the original example. It is an alternative seven-card inventory. A teaching page should show which cards were replaced so that readers do not accidentally construct a nine-card hand.
The Yono VIP note ends with a disciplined deletion. Sana crosses out one eight and the two, leaving the actual final five. More pairs among available cards can improve the selection without creating a new category called three pair.
