Counting Two Packs Without Losing a Card Between Areas
“Two packs” does not by itself give the final playable total. The number of printed jokers and the treatment of any set-aside cards must also be specified.

“Two packs” does not by itself give the final playable total. The number of printed jokers and the treatment of any set-aside cards must also be specified.
Build the inventory in stages
Two ordinary 52-card packs contain 104 natural cards. If the teaching setup adds four printed jokers, the physical inventory is 108. If one card is then removed from the drawable pool, that pool and the other participating areas contain 107 cards, while the removed card still exists in its separate area.
The total should reconcile across all areas: players' hands, the remaining stock, the open pile and any explicitly excluded area. Moving a card between them changes the area counts, not the number of physical cards in the exercise.
Do not double-count an indicator
A visible indicator may be inside or outside the participating pool depending on the rules. Its appearance on screen cannot settle that question. If an example counts it as removed, it cannot also count it inside the face-down stock.
Every physical card must occupy one counted area. If the total is short by one, look for a card assigned to an excluded area or missed during a transfer. Adding an imaginary joker would conceal the discrepancy instead of reconciling the deck.
Reconcile a complete setup
For the stated 108-card inventory, allocate 26 cards to two thirteen-card hands, one to the open pile, one to the excluded indicator and 80 to the stock. The total is 108. Moving one stock card into a hand changes the two affected areas to 79 and 27; the overall total stays fixed. Count the indicator once, in its own area.
