Two pages can use the same name and icon while making different claims about a publisher. A copied logo does not establish who operates the page or who produced a file. Those identities need a connection stronger than visual similarity.
Separate the three identities
The website operator, the claimed software publisher and the product being named may be different entities. An evidence-based description needs a verifiable relationship between them. A page calling itself “official” supplies a claim, not independent confirmation.
Similarity is a starting point
Matching artwork or spelling can identify what the page is trying to represent. It cannot establish who produced the file. Equally, an unrelated app with a similar name should not be substituted as proof about the target product.
Where the relationship cannot be established, use “publisher identity unverified”. That is more accurate than filling the gap with an endorsement.
An icon can match while the publisher remains unknown
Imagine two pages displaying identical artwork. One names an operator; the other gives no publisher information. The second page cannot inherit the first page's identity merely through the image. Record the missing relationship instead of filling it from the better-documented page. An honest comparison can establish visual similarity while leaving ownership and file provenance unresolved.
Distinguish a reference from an endorsement
A page can mention an app to review it, compare it or discuss an error. That mention does not make the page the app’s publisher. Look at how the page describes its role and whether the claimed publisher independently identifies it as a channel. A familiar product name in the heading is not enough to establish that relationship.
