The word latest needs a date and an identifiable product. A recently edited web page can still describe an older release, so the article's edit date and the software's release date must not be treated as the same fact.

Names and internal codes

Android distinguishes a user-visible version name from an internal version code. They serve different purposes. A higher-looking public label is not a substitute for a verified release history, and a version name is not an Android operating-system requirement.

Compare like with like

Before comparing records, establish that they concern the same product and release channel. A date attached to a web-page edit need not be the software’s release date. Label each date according to what it actually describes.

A defensible statement identifies the product, source and date checked, then gives only the version supported by that evidence. Where those are unavailable, leave the current version unconfirmed.

A newer article can describe an older release

Suppose a page was edited in October but discusses a release dated August. Another page was edited in September and discusses a September release. Page-edit order and release order differ. Treat each date according to its label. The word latest needs a dated release comparison for the same product, not merely the most recently edited web page.
